Our charity partner @RainforestTrustUK is raising funds to permanently safeguard 20 million acres of intact forest — an area the size of Scotland — in the Brazilian Amazon over four years.

Rainforests are the lungs of our Earth and the largest, most important is the Amazon rainforest. Rainforest Trust will partner with local Brazilian organisations to defend these vulnerable areas from deforestation by designating forests as protected areas and Indigenous territories. Land grabbing, illegal mining and forest fires all threaten the Brazilian Amazon from thriving. 

Without demarcating these boundaries for Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities, the lush, verdant Amazon we know today will irreversibly flip into a dry, barren savannah. Conserving this globally vital forest can safely lock up 6 billion metric tonnes of CO₂ equivalents which equates to more than 14 times the UK’s annual total CO₂ emissions.
