Beyond the Clothes: Celebrating International Day of Charity Together

Published on

We’ve handpicked a few causes on GlobalGiving that are close to our hearts—feel-good projects supporting women, children, animals, and conservation.

Why charity is important to Sugarhill Brighton

At Sugarhill Brighton, we’ve always believed clothes can do more than just make you look good—they can do good, too. On International Day of Charity, we’re celebrating the incredible projects a=  and have made donations to support through GlobalGiving, all made possible with your help.

From keeping girls in school to protecting endangered wildlife, these initiatives inspire us daily. Here’s how together we’re helping to create brighter futures around the world:

100 Bikes for 100 Girls

In rural Vietnam, many girls walk over an hour to reach school. These long, unsafe journeys lead to high dropout rates and increased risk of trafficking. The solution is simple yet powerful: bicycles.

By providing bikes, this project ensures girls can travel safely and quickly to school, freeing up time for study and family while protecting their futures. A single bicycle can mean the difference between dropping out and chasing big dreams.

Educate a Girl, Educate a Nation - Sierra Leone

Systemic barriers like poverty, gender norms, and lack of resources keep many Sierra Leonean girls out of school. This project breaks down those walls with tuition support, mentoring, STEM programs, and nutritious meals.

When girls have access to education, the benefits ripple outward. They gain confidence, skills, and independence—empowering not just themselves but their families and communities, too.

Educate 500 Orphans in Syria

Syria’s conflict has left nearly 200,000 orphans, many forced into work instead of school. This project restores their right to education through school programs, academic guidance, and vocational training.

Interactive online classes also reach children in camps, ensuring they don’t miss out because of where they live. Education gives them knowledge, skills, and hope—replacing hardship with opportunity.

Send a Child in India to School for a Year

In disadvantaged tribal regions of India, nearly half of children are out of school. Seva Mandir tackles this through bridge schools, which help children catch up, and by strengthening government schools to improve teaching and facilities.

Every year, the program supports around 5,000 children across 600 villages—equipping them with literacy, numeracy, life skills, and the confidence to continue their education.

Education for Every Girl in India

In Rajasthan, thousands of underprivileged girls drop out of school simply because their families can’t afford basics like uniforms, bags, and books. This project removes that barrier by providing essential supplies for over 4,000 girls.

With these tools, girls can stay in school, stay motivated, and unlock opportunities that once felt out of reach. Education becomes not just a dream, but a sustainable path forward.

Sponsor an elephant @ The Elephant Valley Project

It’s not just people we care about—animals, too. The Elephant Valley Project provides sanctuary for retired and rescued elephants in Cambodia. These gentle giants require constant care, from special diets for older elephants to round-the-clock support from their mahouts.

Through sponsorships and donations, the project ensures these elephants live out their days with dignity, comfort, and love. Every contribution helps secure a peaceful retirement for creatures who’ve endured so much.

Safeguarding Ol Pejeta's Rhino Populations

Ol Pejeta is one of the world’s most important wildlife conservancies, home to Kenya’s largest population of eastern black rhinos and the last two northern white rhinos on Earth. But threats like poaching, climate change, and habitat loss put them at constant risk.

Ol Pejeta’s teams work 24/7 to protect these animals through ranger patrols, wildlife monitoring, and community engagement. Supporting them helps safeguard not only rhinos but also biodiversity for generations to come.

Why it matters

Each of these projects—whether it’s giving a girl in Vietnam a bike or protecting rhinos in Kenya—shows how small actions create huge change. Education, safety, dignity, and conservation all go hand in hand when it comes to building a better world.

At Sugarhill Brighton, we’re proud to stand beside these causes. But the truth is, it’s your support that makes this possible. Every purchase, every bit of kindness, fuels our ability to give back.

Beyond the Clothes

On International Day of Charity, we’re reminded of why we do what we do. Fashion is fun, expressive, and joyful—but it can also be meaningful. When you wear Sugarhill Brighton, you’re part of a community that believes in spreading joy and doing good, both locally and globally.

Together, we’re proving that clothes can change more than your wardrobe—they can change the world. 🌍💛✨
