Bank Holiday Team Outfit Picks

Published on

A long weekend calls for bold colours, feel-good prints and outfits that can handle whatever the next few days throw at you. Here's what the Sugarhill team are wearing.

Bank holidays mean different things to different people — a barbecue, a coastal walk, a spontaneous day trip, or simply doing absolutely nothing in the best possible outfit. Whatever your plans, our team have got you covered with their picks from the new collection. Spoiler: there's a lot of pink.

Carla's Pick: Stripes & Knits

Carla is heading into the long weekend with maximum pink energy and we are completely here for it. She's layering a soft pink knit tie-front vest over a coral-striped midi skirt — a combination that shouldn't work and absolutely does. The red ties add a little pop of contrast and pull the whole look together.

"It's giving summer holiday, but like, a very chic one."

Lucy's Pick: The Bomber Jacket of Our Dreams

Let's be honest: the minute we saw Lucy's pick, we all wanted to steal her jacket. The green and pink botanical print bomber is a masterpiece — a satin-look finish with swirling sun motifs that feels simultaneously retro and completely fresh.

She's worn it over a pink ribbed sleeveless top tucked into wide-leg dark navy trousers, which keeps the proportions balanced and lets the jacket reign supreme. A baby blue bum bag adds a casual, practical touch for a day of walking around, and crisp white platform trainers keep things grounded.

This works for a day trip, a market visit, or literally just sitting in a park looking magnificent. Lucy has nailed it.

Hannah's Pick: Gingham Jumpsuit & The Lilac Tote

Hannah is taking the gingham trend and running with it — all the way into a full blue and purple gingham jumpsuit with a smocked bodice, wide legs and the most satisfying patch pockets you've ever seen. She's layered it over a white tee with multi-coloured ric-rac trim on the sleeves, which adds a playful, handmade-feeling detail that's incredibly on-brand for the bank holiday mood.

A chunky gold chain necklace brings a little edge, and a puffed lilac tote bag in exactly the right shade of purple feels like it was made for this outfit (it basically was). Sandals keep things relaxed and comfortable for a long day on your feet.

Hannah is going to a village fête and she will be the best-dressed person there. Fact.

Nat's Pick: Denim Done Beautifully

If you needed proof that a denim dress could be genuinely exciting, Nat's pick is your evidence. She's going for a mid-blue denim shirt dress with a self-tie waist — a detail that elevates the whole thing instantly — with short sleeves and a flattering A-line skirt. It's effortlessly cool in the way that only a really well-made denim piece can be.

The accessories are the conversation starter: mustard yellow frill-top ankle socks paired with chunky black platform loafers. It's a combination that sounds like it requires confidence to pull off, and it does — but Nat has it in spades. Practical, polished, and with a cheeky finish. Exactly right for a bank holiday.

"The socks are the point. Don't fight it."

Kat's Pick: Hot Pink Meets Heavy Boots

Kat is not here to blend in, and we respect it enormously. She's pairing a hot pink tee — embroidered with a little sunshine motif on the chest, which is doing a lot — with a pair of candy-striped shorts in blush and coral. The shorts have a relaxed, floaty quality that makes the chunky platform boots land with exactly the right amount of attitude.

Gold chunky hoop earrings, a heavy gold chain necklace, and a swipe of bright pink lipstick complete a look that says "I have excellent taste and also I could probably outrun you." Bank holiday, you're not ready for Kat.

"The boots stay on. Always."

Livi's Pick: Retro Swirls & Converse Energy

Livi is going for an unapologetically fun pattern clash and it works brilliantly. The pale pink tee features a bold retro swirl graphic in coral and red — the kind of print that makes you feel like you're in a seventies film, in the best possible way. Paired with relaxed blue and purple gingham trousers with a comfortable elasticated waist, this is a look that's genuinely easy to wear while still looking like you tried. Livi is heading out with friends and she'll be the one everyone asks about.

"Comfort is non-negotiable. Style doesn't have to be either."

Cat's Pick: Moody Tropical Maxi Realness

While everyone else leans pink, Cat goes dark — and the contrast is everything. She's in a black midi dress with a smocked bodice and puff sleeves, covered in a swirling tropical outline print in deep red and pink. It's dramatic, it's a little bit otherworldly, and it is absolutely stunning.

The styling keeps things tonal and considered: a gold ring pendant necklace, small gold hoops, and a neat black shoulder bag that lets the dress do the talking. Then comes the twist — pale pink shoes with a little cut-out sun detail. That unexpected sweetness against all that black is the move.

Cat, this is a ten out of ten and we will not be taking questions.

Becci's Pick: Citrus Vibes & Rainbow Trousers

If Becci's outfit doesn't make you immediately want to go and eat a lemon tart in the sunshine, we don't know what will. She's wearing a pink citrus-print tee — covered in the most cheerful orange slices you've ever seen — tucked loosely into rainbow stripe wide-leg trousers. Pattern mixing done right.

Her accessories are keeping things relaxed: silver hoop earrings, a fluffy pink knotted headband that's as sweet as it is practical, and a pair of pale blue trainers that ground the whole joyful riot of colour perfectly.

This is the outfit of someone who genuinely enjoys getting dressed in the morning. Becci, we salute you.
