In the Sugarhill Brighton Studio With Stacey, Wholesale Manager

Published on

At Sugarhill Brighton, we’ve always believed that what makes our brand truly special isn’t just the colourful prints or the feel-good designs — it’s the people who dream them up, sketch them out, and bring them to life. Behind every joyful jumper, playful print and perfectly cut dress is a small but mighty team of creative minds, each adding their own spark to what we do.

With our new blog series, In the Sugarhill Brighton Studio With…, we want to shine a light on the brilliant bunch who work their magic behind the scenes. From design and production to marketing, customer care and everything in between, this is your chance to meet the humans who make Sugarhill Brighton… well, Sugarhill Brighton.

Each post will introduce you to a different member of the team — sharing their stories, inspirations, favourite pieces, and maybe even a few surprises along the way.

So, pop the kettle on and join us as we pull back the curtain, celebrate our people, and show you the heart behind the brand. We can’t wait for you to meet them!

In the Sugarhill Brighton Studio With… Stacey🌟

Say hello to Stacey – our Wholesale Manager! If there’s one person who keeps everything moving at lightning speed, it’s Stacey. Always busy and going 100 miles an hour, she’s the loud, bubbly force at the heart of our wholesale team, bringing energy and positivity wherever she goes. And she’s never alone — by her side (and often supervising from a comfy spot in the office) is her loyal office dog, Neville, who takes his role of Chief Morale Officer very seriously. Together, they keep the office buzzing and the team smiling.

- VANDER QUILTED WAISTCOAT- BLACK/ TEAL, TWILIGHT GINGHAM- this is great to just throw over when the weather is uncertain. It can go with anything but just a baggy pair of jeans and plain top, it will jazz the whole outfit up.

Can you tell me about your role at Sugarhill Brighton? What does your typical day look like?

Can you tell me about your role at Sugarhill Brighton? What does your typical day look like?

As the Studio Manager of Sugarhill Brighton, I am responsible for the day to day running of the in-house design studio. Each day can be quite different, whether it is assisting with fittings and sample management with the production team, or helping the design team with research and CAD work. I also assist with both in-house and location photoshoots which appear across our website, social media and catalogues.

My role as Wholesale Sales Manager involves overseeing all sales-related activity within the wholesale department. I am responsible for presenting and selling our collections to stockists across the UK, as well as managing and supporting our international sales team.

My day-to-day responsibilities are varied and include attending and running trade shows, hosting showroom appointments at our Brighton studio, and liaising closely with our international agents to ensure they have the necessary tools, information, and support to successfully present the collection to overseas retailers.

I am fortunate to work with a diverse range of independent retailers, including lifestyle stores, boutiques, department stores, and concept retailers, which means no two days are the same. I have a genuine passion for independent retail and find the role both rewarding and motivating.

How would you describe your style? Are you influenced by anyone?

I would describe my style understated, with a focus on creating a 'look' with minimal effort. (maybe I am simply a lazy dresser? ha!) I’m drawn to simple, wearable foundations and like to build an outfit around one key statement piece. A typical look for me might be classic black Converse and black barrel-leg jeans, paired with a standout knit or top.

I’m a big believer in the power of accessories to elevate an outfit, and often finish a look with jewellery, a hat, or a hair accessory to add personality and interest. If in doubt a red lipstick and a huge hair bow always makes me feel 'put together.' My job is very busy so practical and comfortale clothes and footwear is a must!

Where is your favourite place to go in Brighton and why?

Its got to be the pub (Ha!) I believe in balance - so alongside yoga, I love nohing more than a afternoon in the pub with my husband, dog (Neville, who is always in the showroom) and mates. I love the pub so much that I even converted our old garden cabin into a boozer. We are so spoilt for choice in Brighton but Unbarred, The Basket Makers and The Argle Arms are a few of my faves.

What's your favourite thing to do right now? Hobby? TV? Book?

I am a big fan of Yoga and usually practice 4 times a week. I am fotunate enough to attend a beautful studio built into the rafters of an old church in Brighton. Its is the ideal setting!

If money didn't matter, where would you travel to?

I would go back to Japan! I was fortuante to go on my honeymoon and would go back in a heartbeat!

Tell us a fun fact?

I grew up in a small town, not a million miles away from Brighton and would spend my weekends going to all day music venues in the city. I listened to a lot of SKA music and had a very questionable fashion sense!
