In the Sugarhill Brighton Studio With…Cat, E-Commerce Assistant

Published on

At Sugarhill Brighton, we’ve always believed that what makes our brand truly special isn’t just the colourful prints or the feel-good designs — it’s the people who dream them up, sketch them out, and bring them to life. Behind every joyful jumper, playful print and perfectly cut dress is a small but mighty team of creative minds, each adding their own spark to what we do.

With our new blog series, In the Sugarhill Brighton Studio With…, we want to shine a light on the brilliant bunch who work their magic behind the scenes. From design and production to marketing, customer care and everything in between, this is your chance to meet the humans who make Sugarhill Brighton… well, Sugarhill Brighton.

Each post will introduce you to a different member of the team — sharing their stories, inspirations, favourite pieces, and maybe even a few surprises along the way.

So, pop the kettle on and join us as we pull back the curtain, celebrate our people, and show you the heart behind the brand. We can’t wait for you to meet them!

- HARTLEY ZIP UP FLEECE- BLACK, COLOURFUL SHAPES- this is the perfect transitional piece into Autumn. I cannot wait to go for long walks along the Downs in this one.

- VANDER QUILTED WAISTCOAT- BLACK/ TEAL, TWILIGHT GINGHAM- this is great to just throw over when the weather is uncertain. It can go with anything but just a baggy pair of jeans and plain top, it will jazz the whole outfit up.

Can you tell me about your role at Sugarhill Brighton? What does your typical day look like?

Can you tell me about your role at Sugarhill Brighton? What does your typical day look like?

As the Studio Manager of Sugarhill Brighton, I am responsible for the day to day running of the in-house design studio. Each day can be quite different, whether it is assisting with fittings and sample management with the production team, or helping the design team with research and CAD work. I also assist with both in-house and location photoshoots which appear across our website, social media and catalogues.

My role is pretty varied! I look after anything website/tech based. Some days that can be prepping content for the new season styles, ready for launch. Other days I could be liaising with our external website platforms or developers to fix any bugs or issues. I also research tech ideas to try to come up with ways for improving the website. Sometimes I'll be doing lots of reporting (which has definitely contributed to my caffeine addiction!). I also manage our Affiliates program.

How would you describe your style? Are you influenced by anyone?

I think my style is quite minimalist/casual (and very comfort based). You can't really go wrong with a good quality t-shirt, jeans and trainers! I have a lot of black pieces in my wardrobe, which is such an easy dressy option when paired with red lipstick and a pair of boots. There's a bit of Boho influence thrown in too. Recently I have been slightly obsessed with the 'Americana' trend... Anything brown suede and dark denim is *chefs kiss*

Where is your favourite place to go in Brighton and why?

My favorite Brighton restaurant is Bincho Yakatori. A authentic (and tiny) Japanese Yakatori restaurant. My favorite pub would be The Great Eastern. Having lived in Brighton all my life, this place has a special place in my heart. It's a pub for the true Brightonians-in-the-know. It's small, cosy and very old, and the locals bring in their own record collections to play on the weekends!

What's your favourite thing to do right now? Hobby? TV? Book?

I recently started Weaving and LOVE IT. It's soooo relaxing and I'm very happy to embrace my inner grandma. I also watch A LOT of Real Housewives, if that counts as a hobby?

If money didn't matter, where would you travel to?

I love to travel so there's many places!! But top of the list would be Tahiti, Canada or New Zealand

Tell us a fun fact?

A few years ago, I volunteered at a wildlife sanctuary in Borneo, helping orphaned Orangutans and baby Sea Turtles.

What's your top pick from the new collection and why?

  • Asher jumper
  • Winona jumper
  • Phily bow cardi
  • Heidi frill denim shirt
  • Regina (white) blouse
  • Hartley Zip Up Fleece - Black, Colourful Shapes
  • Kacy Tunic Dress - Black Cord
  • Annika Turtleneck Jersey Top - Tan, Classic Leopard, Heart
  • Vander Quilted Waistcoat - Black/Teal, Twilight Gingham
  • Vienna Jersey Top - White/Black, Striped Ringer
  • Trixie Mini Skirt - Deep Blue Denim
  • Hartley Zip Up Fleece - Black, Colourful Shapes
  • Kacy Tunic Dress - Black Cord
  • Annika Turtleneck Jersey Top - Tan, Classic Leopard, Heart
  • Vander Quilted Waistcoat - Black/Teal, Twilight Gingham
  • Vienna Jersey Top - White/Black, Striped Ringer
  • Trixie Mini Skirt - Deep Blue Denim

Asher Jumper - Multi, Abstract Landscape

I love how unique (and super soft) this jumper is.

Winona Roll-neck Jumper - Pink/Red, Colour Block

This is such a great pop of colour under a coat (especially in the recent dreary December weather)

Phily Bow Cardigan - Black/Pink

This has been a great option for work to evening dressing. Paired with a white tee underneath, it's smart enough for office meetings. But without a tee it's dressy enough for the pub!

Heidi Frill Shirt - Washed Blue

The perfect addition to my growing 'Americana' wardrobe.

Regina Blouse - Off-White, Floral Cuff

A white shirt is a great wardrobe staple. And the floral detailing on the wrist makes it extra special.
