At Sugarhill Brighton, we’ve always believed that what makes our brand truly special isn’t just the colourful prints or the feel-good designs — it’s the people who dream them up, sketch them out, and bring them to life. Behind every joyful jumper, playful print and perfectly cut dress is a small but mighty team of creative minds, each adding their own spark to what we do.
With our new blog series, In the Sugarhill Brighton Studio With…, we want to shine a light on the brilliant bunch who work their magic behind the scenes. From design and production to marketing, customer care and everything in between, this is your chance to meet the humans who make Sugarhill Brighton… well, Sugarhill Brighton.
Each post will introduce you to a different member of the team — sharing their stories, inspirations, favourite pieces, and maybe even a few surprises along the way.
So, pop the kettle on and join us as we pull back the curtain, celebrate our people, and show you the heart behind the brand. We can’t wait for you to meet them!
In the Sugarhill Brighton Studio With… Kat 🌟
Say hello to Kat — our brilliant Studio Manager and the calm, creative force who keeps everything running smoothly behind the scenes. If Sugarhill Brighton were a beehive, Kat would be the queen bee (minus the crown, plus an endless supply of notebooks and colour-coded to-do lists).
- HARTLEY ZIP UP FLEECE- BLACK, COLOURFUL SHAPES- this is the perfect transitional piece into Autumn. I cannot wait to go for long walks along the Downs in this one.

- VANDER QUILTED WAISTCOAT- BLACK/ TEAL, TWILIGHT GINGHAM- this is great to just throw over when the weather is uncertain. It can go with anything but just a baggy pair of jeans and plain top, it will jazz the whole outfit up.

Can you tell me about your role at Sugarhill Brighton? What does your typical day look like?
Can you tell me about your role at Sugarhill Brighton? What does your typical day look like?
As the Studio Manager of Sugarhill Brighton, I am responsible for the day to day running of the in-house design studio. Each day can be quite different, whether it is assisting with fittings and sample management with the production team, or helping the design team with research and CAD work. I also assist with both in-house and location photoshoots which appear across our website, social media and catalogues.

How would you describe your style? Are you influenced by anyone?
I find this question so hard. I take inspo from a lot of different places, both past and present. I was a proper tom-boy when I was younger so still love baggy skater tops and my staple Dickies Dungarees, but add little pops of colour with a bright lip or dangly jewellery. Im probably influenced in my style most by people like Joanne McNally and brands such as Molly Goddard and Damson Madder etc.
Where is your favourite place to go in Brighton and why?
My favourite place in Brighton is definitely the South Downs. I love walking up there as you have a mixture of the countryside and the Sea all in one. The walk from Brighton to Lewes is one of my favourite things to do, especially with a little pint to celebrate at the end.
What's your favourite thing to do right now? Hobby? TV? Book?
I love to run! It's basically free therapy for me haha and whenever I feel a bit stressed or all at odds, then I'll go for a run along the seafront and it clears my head completely. I can't stand to be trapped inside all-day, and running literally gets you out and about- rain or shine. There is such a great running community in Brighton, and everytime I go, there's always someone you know (or don't) who will say hello. Me and my mates love doing a run and coffee catch-up date most weekends. It makes me feel less guilty when I binge-watch Below Deck that night!
If money didn't matter, where would you travel to?
Well, I am heading off to travel around South America in October, so I will have to say there haha!! I am most excited to visit Mexico and Peru on our trip, hopefully finishing in Brazil. Literally can't wait.
Tell us a fun fact?
I'm actually an identical twin!

Kacy Tunic Dress - Black Cord & Annika Turtleneck Jersey Top - Tan, Classic Leopard, Heart
I love that you can dress this pick both up and down. Would style with either the Annika top for a day-to-day look.
Vander Quilted Waistcoat - Black/Teal, Twilight Gingham
This is great to just throw over when the weather is uncertain. It can go with anything, but just a baggy pair of jeans and a plain top, it will jazz the whole outfit up.
Vienna Jersey Top - White/Black, Striped Ringer & Trixie Mini Skirt - Deep Blue Denim
These 2 items have become classic staples in my wardrobe. The Trixie is an essential and something that I can wear all year round. I love to team it with big chunky DM boots and the Vienna striped top for stomping round town, or simply walking to a country pub for a pint in front of the fire - perfect!
