The National Literacy Trust is an independent charity that empowers children, young people and adults with the literacy skills they need to succeed. Reading, writing, speaking and listening skills give you the tools to get the most out of life, and the power to shape your future. For over 30 years the National Literacy Trust has continued to support schools, families and communities on a local and national level to help people change their stories.
We are a charity that empowers children, young people and adults with the literacy skills they need to succeed and get the most out of life. We focus on all aspects of literacy: reading, writing, speaking and listening.
"We work with the people who need us most. We support communities where as many as one in three people have low levels of literacy. We research and develop the most effective tools and techniques for teachers and parents to increase literacy. We provide resources to help engage and inspire children, especially those who’ve had a tough start in life.
We work with vulnerable teenagers, helping them connect and communicate, with the power of words. We support people in prisons and young offender institutions to build their literacy skills, from developing a love of reading to preparing for job applications.
We campaign to make literacy a priority, because we know it is a critical tool for changing life chances. We underpin all our work with research and evidence about the most effective ways to increase literacy and the impact it can have for people, and society. And we partner with a wide range of organisations to reach those who need us most.
Together, we are helping people change their stories."
This January, we’re proud to support the National Literacy Trust, chosen in recognition of International Day of Education on 24th January. Education plays such a vital role in shaping the next generation, and it’s a cause that feels especially close to our hearts. We truly admire the work the Trust does and couldn’t think of a more meaningful partner to work with this month. That’s why 2% of every sale made in January will be donated to help support their incredible work.
